How We Help Older Adults

Friendship Program for Older Adults

The Friendship Program for Older Adults opens a world of friendship, fun, and possibilities for Older Adult newcomers and their Canadian "Hosts".  Preventing isolation and creating a sense of belonging are the goals behind recreational and cultural activities designed to support and inspire volunteers and participants of the program.

Lunch and Learn Sessions

Based on topics of interest to the participants, guest speakers are invited to deliver information sessions.Conversation Circles

English Conversation Circles for older adults

are run in two community centres.  It is easy to participate as there is no cost or registration required.  It is easy to access bus routes to and from these locations.

Tours and Recreational Activities

Tours are run for older adults periodically, such as visits to museums, free concerts and sight seeing.

Recognition and Networking Events

Volunteers and clients are invited to participate, network, and learn from each other thus breaking cultural barriers.
